Recently, the Ministry of AYUSH has launched a new campaign to make people aware of the benefits of Shatavari after Amla, Moringa, Giloy and Ashwagandha. To increase awareness about the health benefits of medicinal plants, Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav on Thursday launched a species-specific campaign ‘Shatavari – For Better Health’.
Prataprao Jadhav posted on the social media platform X. In the post, he wrote, Today I launched the ‘Shatavari – For Better Health’ campaign in New Delhi under the Ministry of AYUSH. This campaign has been started keeping in mind the health of women, which is an important step towards the Panch Prana goal. The Ministry of AYUSH has made unprecedented progress in the last 10 years. Awareness campaigns have also been run on Amla, Moringa, Giloy and Ashwagandha before the efforts of the National Medicinal Plant Board. Financial assistance of Rs 18.9 lakh will be provided by the National Medicinal Plant Board to promote the medicinal importance of Shatavari and its agricultural economy.
Prataprao Jadhav also emphasized the relevance of Shatavari in achieving the Panch Prana Goal as stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech on the occasion of Independence Day on 15 August 2022. The Prime Minister has envisioned making the country a developed nation by India’s 100th Independence Day in 2047. Under this mission, the Shatavari plant has been identified as a key resource for women’s health care in India. This is linked to the broader goal of overall well-being of citizens.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, elaborated on the activities and achievements of NMPB in promoting medicinal plants. He also shared information about the Central Sector Scheme for Conservation, Development and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants, an initiative to ensure long-term conservation and cultivation of important medicinal species including asparagus.
