Which is an extremely rare condition in which a deformed fetus is located in the body of another fetus. An official said that the rare congenital anomaly was detected a few days ago when the woman, who is 35 weeks pregnant, went to Buldhana District Women’s Hospital for a routine checkup. The official said that during the woman’s sonography in the hospital, doctors came to know about this condition.

He said that till now only 200 such cases have been reported (worldwide), that too after delivery, including 10-15 cases in India. He said, “But I was lucky and alert to see something unusual in this child, who is about 35 weeks old, a normally growing fetus with some bones and embryo-like structures in the stomach.”

Doctor confirms rare pregnancy

“I immediately felt it was not normal. It was ‘foetus in foetus’, one of the rarest cases in the world. We sought a second opinion and radiologist Dr Shruti Thorat confirmed the case.” Hospital officials said the woman was referred to a medical facility in neighbouring Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for safe delivery and further procedures.
